Once again the Blackwater Pyrate Crew will be hosting a Shipwrecks and Lumber Industry of the Blackwater lecture on February 11^th, 2011 at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium on Jimmy’s Way in Milton, Florida. This is an incredibly interesting lecture. Guest speakers Dr. Della Scott and Dr. Brian Rucker will discuss the eighteen sunken ships which still remain on the Blackwater River and how these ships contributed to the ports of Bagdad & Milton which were among the largest commerce centers in the 1800’s and early 1900s.

The doors will open at a 5:00 PM at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium so that the public can view local artifacts. The public may also bring artifacts in that they may want verified by experts. Several local historians will be in attendance and agencies that serve the river will be available to answer questions about preservation, law enforcement and boater safety.
