I'd like to head down Port St. Joe way.... are there any good places to eat along the way, tie up overnight or any Marina's with services we could stay overnight at? How far up the Appliachacola river can one go?

Hi Tom,

Are you going by the ditch or offshore?  Either way, Panama City Marina is a full service marina.  Beyond the marina through the bascular bridge is Massialina Bayou, home to Bayou Joe's eatery.  Good food, you can tie off and eat there.  Nothing else available until you get to Port St. Joe, that I'm aware of.

Crooked Island is accessible only by offshore. It offers pristine beaches at the eastern tip of Tyndall Air Force Base and will close if they're manuevering.  Very shallow and a bit tricky getting into it. Get local knowledge.  I made it in and out safely with my 5'3" draft by following someone who'd been in before.

Have a safe and good trip.

Hi Pattie.... we thought of going the ditch as we are newbies! 2' 7" draft

Sort of looking for both a marina with Showers, Restr. and a pool (!?) as well as beaches we can stay on overnight.

East end of Dog Island has deep water access Beautiful Private Beach & Good Fishing too. Its one of our Favorite Spots to Unwind.
The Blackwater Pyrates are rafting at Bay Point tonight @ 6:30 PM just prior to their LIGHTED BOAT PARADE.  Come and join in weather you have lights or not.  They will raft once again when they are finished.  (After synchronized boating of course.)  Need more information call Pyrate Fins Up @ The Blackwater Pyrates will be conducting their lighted boat parade tonight at the top of Blackwater bay. they will start at Bains Canal at about 6:30 and raft together just off of Bay Point, When the sun sets they illuminate their boats and head north, skirt the I-10 bridge, go south along Robinson Point and turn into the bayou on the other side of Robinson point. Once they pass all the docks they do sychronized boating and then once again they raft together and pass food and drink.

What's cool about this? Anybody can join them and it's free. If you want to join the pyrates just float up and act like a pyrate. Tonight's parade is the posponed parade from last Saturday, but it is easy to remember when they do it. It happens once a month all summer on the Saturday closest to the Full Moon. For more details contact Pyrate Fins Up @ 850-529-3565. He is a wealth of information. To learn how to light your boat go to www.blackwaterpyrates.com.

Each spring the Blackwater Pyrates of Milton hold an overnighter at Skull Island (Escribano Point) at the wayfinding sign.  It's a great way to meet people and get to know the pyrates.  These aren't your average pyrates.  They have over 100 members in three countries (not counties) and their own clothing line, custom flag, burgee and they actually remove derelict vessel from Florida waters.  You can get more information on them by visiting blackwaterpyrates.com.

Milton Christmas Lighted Boat Parade is 10 December @ the Riverwalk in Milton.  Boats line up at 6:30 at Russell Harbor Park - Parade starts at 7:00.  Entry Fee is $20.00 throught the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce. This is the largest parade in NW Florida.  Bring your lawn chair and settle on the boardwalk or join the fun.  Milton has numerous launches throughout the city.

Hi Tom, you may want to add it as an event as well.
