Boating Florida's Panhandle | Boat Emerald Coast | Panama | Pensacola & more

So I've been thinking of doing a fishing charter somewhere in the area. I haven't been fishing in a long time and I don't really know the waters here as far as navigation goes. I have always loved an outdoors adventure and I think trying some different fishing charters will give me a better idea about what I can do on my own around here.

I love to fish but I'm not sure how confident I feel about going out on my own and I don't have my own boat, so I think a charter will be fun. I am a little stumped though on which type of charter I want since there are so many different ones in the panhandle area to choose from.

Where do I begin and how do I know who to choose? What kind of rates am I looking at for a one-day adventure? I have a lot of questions so clearly I need to do some investigating. I'm welcome to advice and tips from anyone here who might be reading this.

I'm planning to research the fishing charters in the area to help make my decision and I'll report back here with the results in case anyone else is interested. Maybe I'll even blog here about my adventure and share some pictures and stories of my catch!

A Charter is a great way to get started. Once you are ready to head out in your own boat, you will have
an idea of what to expect, and what to do then. I run an offshore Charter fishing business out of the East
Coast of Florida. Another perk to going out on a charter first is to give various gear a "test drive" so as to
help you decide what you like. Charters are usually either inshore, or offshore, though some try to do both.
I would suggest picking whatever fishing you are interested in, and then choosing a charter that focus's on
that alone. Also an offshore boat built for speed rather than comfort (an enclosed cabin) will give you more
fishing time.

I am comming up to Panama city beach with my offshore boat from Nov 28 - Dec 5, and will be fishing Mon-Fri
if weather allows. I have discussion post, as well as craigslist adds for those interested in fishing on a custom
offshore fishing machine, fully equipped with fishing equipment, for the price of gas, oil, bait, and ice. If a few people got togeather this would be a pretty good deal. This would NOT be a charter, since I want to fish, also,
and keep what I catch (many spesis not allowed on a charter), so this would require a saltwater (boat) fishing
license.
