Have you ever wanted to find a nice quiet piece of beach for yourself to enjoy? You might be surprised to know that the Florida coast has over 800 miles of beaches. That’s a TON of beaches to choose from but do you ever feel like you can’t find a quiet and peaceful one for anything?
This is partly because so many people from other parts of the country or even other parts of the world want to come to Florida, especially during the winter months where it might be cold where they are from. You can’t hate the tourists as they keep the economy going but sometimes you just want to enjoy a little piece of your own beach state without others getting in the way, right?
This just means you need to get a little creative in how you look for beaches. You might have to go off the beaten path a bit, as they say. Your biggest and most popular beaches might be a bit too overcrowded for you. Then there is also the point of what time you go. Choosing to go at the right time of day can make all the difference.
Sometimes finding a quiet beach might seem like a hassle. When you live in the panhandle, you can enjoy Pensacola Beach in the northwest corner of the state. You can also look around the areas between Casino Beach and Quietwater Beach. I usually find great spots here.
Sometimes you need to go a little out of the way to really find a good spot where all the tourists aren’t taking over. Once you find a nice little home beach for yourself, you will want to come back again and again. If you find it’s getting overrun as more people find out about your spot, you might need to look for a new spot.
But these tips are not just for the Panhandle. If you’re living on the Gulf, check out Port St. Joe or Indian Pass. When I’m down in the Clearwater area, I like to take a boat out to the island beaches. It’s all about finding a spot that’s not on the map- or at least that’s small on the map. These are the places that not so many other people will be at and you can enjoy some peace.
